Strengthening the shelter harbour on Saint-Honorat Island

The Razel-Bec Côte d'Azur agency teams carried out strengthening works on the shelter harbour of Saint-Honorat Island, located off the coast of Cannes. Home to a Cistercian monastic community of 21 monks since the 5th century, the island relies on its harbour for daily access and supplies. In response to the deterioration of the quays and rock armour, the City of Cannes launched a strengthening programme including micropiles, underwater concreting, civil engineering works and the restoration of the 19th-century historic stone facing.

The project was carried out under stringent environmental constraints, including the protection of Posidonia seagrass meadows and protected marine species, as well as complex logistics dictated by Mediterranean weather conditions.
