Razel, the beginning
In 1880, Emile Razel, a 34-year-old stonemason, set up his own company under the eponymous name in Pompierre, in Doubs.
1888
First major project
After a tough start, his first major project came in 1888: the Combe de Lavaux road. 40 workers joined the family adventure.
1922
A new generation arrives at Razel
The founder, Emile Razel, dies. His two sons, Emile and René Razel, gave the company a fresh start by importing the first tracked excavators.
1936
Foundation of Bec Frères
The 1930s saw the creation of Bec Frères, a company founded by Justin, Albert, Joseph, Paul and Émile.
1951
Razel expands its business in Africa
With its reputation as a leading earthworks contractor, Razel was asked to build the 88 km Douala to Edea road in Cameroon.
1957
Creation of Société Nouvelle de Terrassement
In Libourne, Clément Fayat founded Société Nouvelle de Terrassement, better known today as Fayat. The company expanded into public works through the acquisition of a number of companies, including Razel (2008), Bec Frères (2002) and Cari (2010). These 3 companies merged under the name Razel-Bec.
1970
Razel, the earthworks leader
Razel has covered the longest motorway mileage and has the most modern fleet of equipment. René Razel passes the baton to his sons, Paul and Claude, for a new era of international expansion.

Bec, the expert in dams
Bec works on major projects in France and abroad. For instance, it develops cutting-edge expertise in dam construction.
2012
Creation of Razel-Bec
Razel-Bec was created when the Fayat Group decided to merge its public works businesses (Razel, Bec and Cari).
2018
Razel-Bec and the Grand Paris project
Razel-Bec is a major stakeholder in the Grand Paris project. It is digging more than 30 km of tunnels and building more than 15 stations.
