A major project to connect Europe's major river basins.

Pont-Canal de la Somme

The Somme Aqueduct, an essential link along the route

The Somme Aqueduct is a key structure of the future Seine–Nord Europe Canal. Stretching 1.33 km and standing around thirty meters above the valley, it will ensure the continuity of the canal while preserving the natural landscape. Designed to accommodate river navigation, it will also be open to the public thanks to pedestrian and cycling paths connected to the existing networks.

Special attention to the environment

Extending over 3.13 km of alignment, including two foreports and several standard canal sections, the project also involves the implementation of numerous environmental measures: more than 7.5 ha of vegetation restored, around 15 ha of meadows and wetlands rehabilitated, and various systems to protect local wildlife. A true link between sky and water, the Somme Aqueduct combines technical performance, landscape integration, and a meaningful contribution to the development of more sustainable inland waterway transport.
