A strategic development beneath the runways of Roissy
The “Virginie” tunnel boring machine has passed the 4 km excavation mark on Line 17 – Lot 3 of the Grand Paris Express. This major project, carried out beneath Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, showcases the expertise of the teams involved in one of the most complex infrastructure projects in the Île-de-France region.
The tunnel boring machine notably carried out particularly sensitive passages beneath the takeoff and landing runways—first under Runway 2, then under Runway 4—delicate technical stages executed with precision. “Virginie” then reached the 3703P ancillary structure to exit the airport for good, before starting the final 2 kilometers of the project towards Tremblay-en-France.
